Leak Detection and Repair in Sacramento

The meter test costs nothing and you can do it yourself. Turn off every faucet, shower, sprinkler, washing machine and ice maker, and make sure nobody in the house runs water. Then find the water meter and watch the dial and the small leak indicator.

The meter counts the water that passes it on the way into your pipes. With everything off, nothing should pass. If the dial or the indicator still moves, water is escaping somewhere between the meter and your fixtures.

The meter can't tell you where. It could be a line under the slab, the water line in the yard, or a toilet that quietly runs. What it does tell you is that the leak is real, and what your meter did is one of the first things Jordan asks when you call.

Jordan Graham's leak detection is non-destructive: the floor or wall gets opened once, at the spot he found. The search starts on the phone, with Jordan himself, since Platinum Pipe Solutions has no call center. You describe the bill, the sounds, any wet or warm spots and what the meter did, and his questions narrow down where to look before he arrives.

At the house, pressure testing isolates the line that's losing water. Electronic detection equipment then locates the leak on that line. The tools include a thermal camera, which shows hot water spreading under a floor as a warm streak, and a moisture meter, which reads the water soaked into a wall or floor.

Before any repair starts, you see what was found: where the leak is, the likely cause, and the repair options with a price for each. If the honest answer is that you don't need much, that is the answer Jordan gives you.

A slab leak is a broken water line under your concrete floor. Finding it is the hard part. Every wrong guess is more concrete to break out and patch. Jordan pins the leak down first, then gives you two options with a price for each: repair the break where it is, or reroute the line so it no longer runs under the slab.

The line from your meter to your house runs under the yard, the driveway or a walkway. When it leaks you might see a soggy patch or a sunken spot. Often you see nothing, and the only sign is the bill. Jordan locates the line, then finds the leak on it.

If the line is sound except for one break, Jordan digs at that spot and repairs it. If it has leaked before, or it's failing in more than one place, replacing the whole run from the house to the street is usually the better spend. You get a price for both and you choose.
